Jekyll Island Club
Membership is earned, not requested.
Anyone may sit in. Not everyone is asked to stay. You attend three meetings before your name comes up, and the members decide.
We are not looking for the most impressive man in the room. We are looking for the one who shows up, does the reading, and can be relied on by the others.
Rank is given by the members. It cannot be bought.
Every man enters the same way and moves at the pace of his own work. No rank carries a fee. Each one carries a duty to the men below it.
Your first three meetings. You go by your first name only. No dues and no commitment.
After three meetings your full name goes on the roll and is read aloud. You attend, you study, you do not vote.
Voted in by the standing membership. A member holds one of the four studies, votes on admissions, and puts names forward.
The founders. The rank is not open and is not conferred. It is kept on the roll so the standard stays visible.
Members join to study, not to spectate.
Write to us and tell us what you are trying to understand. We will send you the time and the place of the next meeting.
